     Bed Bath and Beyond will price match any item, as long as you have the printed ad and it's EXACTLY the same. They will also let you use Bed Bath and Beyond coupons as well as manufacturer coupons. Some managers will try to resist you, but will always give in to you if you insist. As always, do this when the store is busy, and they are more likely to give in.

Saving money on health and beauty products

     Bed Bath and Beyond has almost everything you could need for your home, but some locations have even more. A few years ago, they began rolling out health and beauty sections in some of their busiest stores. The best part? Those of us who are lucky enough to shop at these locations have found the prices, even before coupons, to be great bargains. This is really fantastic, considering these are things most of us buy every week.
     In addition to their famous $5 and 20% coupons, they also allow you to use manufacturers coupons on these items. I cannot tell you how many items I've gotten for less than a dollar, or even free. This is also another situation where cashier confusion usually happens, and works out in your favor. I'll give you a few examples, each of which have happened to me at least once.
     Bed Bath and Beyond's register system is not set up to handle manufacturer's coupons. Instead of scanning a barcode, the cashier enters the amount of discount in cash. It also appears on the receipt as cash. Although their policy only allows them to accept them if they are current, almost none of the cashiers bother to check. This manual system leaves a lot of room for error (good errors!). So hang on to those expired coupons!
   The next situation has happened to me a few times. I used my Bed Bath and beyond coupons. I then gave the cashier my manufacturer coupons. The amount of mfr coupons (remember, the register sees them as cash) exceeded the price of the items, and I was given back the difference in cash. Let me repeat that. After coupons the store owed me money, and I left with my items and five more dollars in my pocket.
     This last one has only happened once, and had I noticed it at the time, I would have said something. I always say pay close attention to ensure you are getting the best discount. This is the opposite. Letting this happen would just be plain dishonest, so look out for it and alert the cashier if you see it. I came back for a coupon adjustment (see this previous post). I had already used my BBB coupons, and just wanted to add my manufacturer coupons. The cashier put them through, and gave me cash back. I had originally paid with a credit card, so I should not have received cash. But this is the part that really struck me: When I got home and looked at my receipt I realized that not only had I already had the receipt adjusted, but I had done so previously twice. As I said before, manual entry causes problems for cashiers. Since they show up as cash, their computers don't track the adjustment and there is nothing to stop you from getting way more of a discount than you are entitled to.
    So, be sure to bring your coupon organizer over to the health and beauty section. Just remember, watch like a hawk for your discounts, but be honest and earn good shopping karma!

How to get CASH back on wedding registry returns at Bed Bath and Beyond.

     Getting married is a fun and exciting time, full of changes both big and small. One thing that can be counted on is gifts. And since you will most likely be moving into a new home, this is not necessarily a bad thing. The best way to ensure that they will be gifts you like is to open a wedding registry. You may find, however, that in this time of transition cash may be more useful than a bread-maker or blender, but it would be in bad taste to specify cash only for wedding gifts, and most retailers will only give store credit for your registry returns.
     Bed Bath and Beyond offers a bridal registry. Like most retailers, their policy is store credit for any registry returns. What they don't tell you is that their policy is to give you cash if you ask for it. They will try to discourage you. You will have to talk to a few managers, but in the end you will get it. I've seen entire gift registries returned for THOUSANDS of dollars. You may not leave that day with cash in hand, though you might, but after jumping through a few hoops you will get it. It can go down a couple of different ways.

     The first situation, and the most common for high dollar amounts, they will offer you a corporate check. Basically you fill out a form, they fax it to their main office. A few weeks later you are sent a check for the amount. This usually happens at times when the store is not busy. During weekdays, the store has less traffic, and the managers do not feel a sense of urgency to please you. If you are not offered a corporate check, you may be told by the manager that the store does not have enough money on hand. If this is the case, the manager may tell you to come on a weekend afternoon, and will have the money waiting for you.
     The best outcome, of course, is cash in hand. The best way to achieve this is to go when the store is very busy. The stores tend to be understaffed, and the management is more prone to give in and please you, as opposed to receiving a customer complaint. I suggest weekends and holidays.
     I think this is a great way to plan for some post wedding cash, especially if you don't need a whole new house worth of appliances. Just remember, they will resist you at every step. The are trained to talk you out of it, but in the end the company WILL stand by their policy, albeit grudgingly.

Quick Tip: Coupon Adjustments

Bed Bath and Beyond will allow you to bring back any receipt, and any coupons you have to get a refund of the difference. There is no time limit to do this. Also, If you used a coupon on an item, and later receive a coupon that would have saved you more you can bring it with your receipt and they will honor it. They will also give you back the original coupon used (but only if you ask for it!).

     Remember, if the cashier seems confused or is saying no, ask to speak to the Manager on duty. They will not say no, and will make sure you leave happy. This works best when the store is very busy. They are trained that having lines is a bad thing. They are prone to panic and will do anything to please in these situations, for fear of customer complaints. This is the case in every location I've shopped in.

Unbelievable bargains at the As-Is section

     Of all the tips and tricks I can tell you, this is by far the most useful. Every Bed Bath and Beyond store has a section dedicated to "as-is" items. The salesperson will tell you that these are damaged and returned items, but the truth is most of the time they are brand new and sold at incredible markdowns of up to 80%.            
     Sometimes they are mishipped items or manufacturer samples, other times they are never used or opened returns. Even broken packaging is enough to land an item there. Each as-is item is marked with a yellow barcode which details the condition of the item and it's current price. I've found these descriptions to be consistently honest. Also, the UPC code on each item will be crossed out in BLUE marker.
     The section is typically located in the main aisle of the store, on the bedding and bath side. Each store is different, so it could be located elsewhere, and may not be clearly marked. Ask one of the salespeople and they will direct you. Once you find it, start digging! The section is usually disheveled, so make sure you pick things up, and look behind items. Keep an eye out for massively reduced big ticket items, and get them when you see them. They go quickly (usually to an employee).
     If you are really out to get the big savings on the hot items, then I suggest going a few times a week. They rotate this section often. Try to get an idea of what time your local BBB stocks this section so that you can get first dibs. Each store varies as to what time this occurs.
     Although it's called "as-is", everything is still returnable with no time limits. Even without a receipt, they will still give you a store credit. If you still have your receipt then you'll get cash. It's amazing they retain this policy considering one could wash off the blue mark, peel off the yellow sticker, and return it to another location for  store credit worth the full retail price, possibly double the amount paid. That would be fraud and is illegal, so I do not recommend that you do that. I do however suggest you check out as-is, whether you are looking for a deal for yourself, or to make a few bucks on ebay, you will definitely make out like a bandit!
